This project seeks to develop and validate a bilingual AI competency framework using machine learning algorithms to analyze job postings by AI sector companies in Montréal and programs of study offered by local educational institutions. The project aims to identify and map new skills and competencies required by the industry, and to develop a prospective pilot curriculum in a sample of college courses. Data transfer transparency and precision respecting competencies identified will make it possible to abbreviate the bridging of training/occupation competency gaps triggered by the ever-evolving requisites of new AI-based industries.
This project was made possible through a grant from the Pôle montréalais d'enseignement supérieur en intelligence artificielle (PIA)
The PIA was established with the aim of maintaining the alignment of college and university programs with industry requirements, while also shedding light on the social and ethical implications associated with the emergence of AI. Through the active involvement of its members, which include representatives from approximately 20 academic institutions, and in collaboration with leaders from the AI community, PIA strives to provide support to post-secondary institutions in effectively designing and updating academic curricula to reflect the present and future demands of AI.
